OU alerts, recalls and new products

All varieties of Chew-ets PEANUT CHEWS® (formerly Goldenberg's) are dairy, non-cholov yisroel. Gourmet Hot Cocoa Pot and Frother Set with cocoa and marshmallows (UPC# 005160755555) sold at Linens-N-Things retail stores. Product bears an unauthorized OU symbol and is being withdrawn from the marketplace. Frito-Lay announced the voluntary recall of 41 cases (2,460 bags) of 1.5 oz. bags of Lay's Classic Potato Chips. This lot is marked as Lay's Classic Potato Chips but may contain Lay's Cheddar & Sour Cream Flavored Potato Chips. No illnesses have been reported to date. This product has been distributed only through select vending machines in North Texas. The only affected packages are 1.5 oz. bags of Lay's Classic Potato Chips that have a freshness date of February 12 located on the upper right hand side of the package and with an 11 digit code number of 12923230985 (time stamp between 06:00 and 08:00), which appears immediately beneath the freshness date. The Back to Nature Foods Company is recalling 13,800 boxes of Back to Nature Sesame Ginger Rice Thins Crackers with a “Best When Used By” date of 22FEB2008, because a small number of boxes may contain a milk ingredient, and no milk ingredients are declared on the label. (NOTE: Product is OUD certified and has an OUD on bottom front label.) This product will expire on 22FEB2008. The company has voluntarily issued a nationwide recall to alert any milk-allergic consumers who may have the product at home. Consumers are advised not to consume the product and are asked to call 1-800-433-9361 for a full refund.
